Jaguars sign Blake Bell, place Niles Paul on injured reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed tight end Blake Bell to their active roster, to make room the team placed tight end Niles Paul on injured reserve. Paul injured his leg in Sunday’s 40-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys when he was tackled in the backfield and bent backwards. It was reported as an MCL sprain for Paul, but he will be out for the season now.

Bell, 27, was originally a fourth round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL Draft and spend his first two seasons in the NFL with the 49ers. Bell played quarterback and tight end in college at Oklahoma, often lining up to receive the snap in some jumbo packages as trick plays racking up redzone touchdowns running the with the ball.

Bell spent part of the past two seasons on IR with the 49ers and in 2017 with the Minnesota Vikings with shoulder injuries.
