Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Dallas Cowboys: Week 6 sack analysis

Another three sacks to break down!

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Dallas Cowboys Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars were (again) disappointing on offense against a Dallas Cowboys team they really should have had success against. Among a host of other things going wrong, Blake Bortles was sacked three times.

Who was responsible for those sacks? Let’s take a look.

Sack #1: 3rd & 3 at DAL 32, 15:00 in 2Q

(Shotgun) B. Bortles sacked at DAL 40 for -8 yards (M. Collins).

Andrew Norwell gets beat bad by a simple spin move from Maliek Collins. In the time it took Bortles to make his second read, Collins is right there.

Fault: Andrew Norwell

Sack #2: 1st & 10 at JAX 32, 9:19 in 2Q

(Shotgun) B. Bortles sacked at JAX 32 for 0 yards (sack split by T. Crawford and A. Woods).

Without an assigned defender, Brandon Linder could have done a better job of sealing up the inside, and maybe that’s what A.J. Cann was expecting (or hoping for). Either way, another avoidable sack on a simple spin move.

Fault: Brandon Linder and A.J. Cann

Sack #3: 1st & 10 at JAX 36, 5:59 in 4Q

(No Huddle, Shotgun) B. Bortles sacked at JAX 34 for -2 yards (R. Gregory).

Jermey Parnell is at fault for letting Demarcus Lawrence get the initial pressure that forces Blake to (awkwardly) step up into the pocket. Newly installed left tackle Josh Walker gets pushed back but anchors well enough to prevent Randy Gregory from touching Blake until he literally runs into him. What a mess.

Fault: Jermey Parnell and Josh Walker

Summary

Not a pretty day for the offensive line as Blake was hit seven times on 26 pass attempts, including the three sacks above.
