The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded for Cleveland Browns running back Carlos Hyde. According to Tom Pelissero, the Jaguars gave up a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Hyde came to the Browns this past offseason on a three-year contract.

Most notably, on September 20 of this year, Hyde’s girlfriend was due to give birth to his first child. He went from the hospital to the Browns game (the one on Thursday night where they beat the New York Jets for their first victory in eleventy million weeks) and ran for 97 yards and two touchdowns. He then came back to the hospital to witness the birth of his son. Absolute stud.

In total this season, he’s got 382 rushing yards and five touchdowns in six games but with the emergence of rookie Nick Chubb as a breakout threat, the Browns were willing to listen to trade offers.

Since becoming a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Hyde has 3,774 total yards on 884 total touches for 29 touchdowns. He’s a good pickup for a running back needy team.

It’s almost like they should have put Leonard Fournette on short-term injured reserve.
