Jaguars hold firm in NFL power rankings

NFL: New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars got back on the winning front on Sunday, beating up on the New York Jets. The game on Sunday actually got kind of boring until the Jaguars started turning the ball over and giving the Jets a small glimmer of hope, in part because the Jaguars defense was just absolutely dominating the Jets offense and had rookie quarterback Sam Darnold on the run for most of the day.

Doing so, the Jaguars stayed firm at the No. 3 spot in SB Nation’s NFL power rankings this week, falling from the top spot after their loss to the Tennessee Titans. Here’s what Rebecca Tobek had to say about the Jaguars:

The Jaguars are also staying put at the No. 3 spot thanks to a relatively easy win over the Jets. Blake Bortles was back in business after a bad week with 388 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and a 114.8 passer rating.

It’s hard to argue with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jaguars next opponent, and the Los Angeles Rams being ranked ahead of Jacksonville. The Chiefs are undefeated and the Rams look like the most complete team in the NFL.

If Blake Bortles can find some consistency as the season goes on however, the Jaguars are easily in the discussion for best team in the NFL.
