Follow along with us as we bring you live in-game coverage of the Jaguars’ swan song, and stay with us for post-game coverage throughout the evening in what may be an eventful 24 hours for the Jaguars on and off the field.
3:50 PM: We have reached the two minute warning, and Houston will seemingly run out the clock on the game and the 2018 season for the Jaguars. I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who followed these blogs this season. This was my first season doing this with Big Cat Country, and the comments and follows have been all too kind. I appreciate you all sharing game day with me. See you in 2019, God willing!
3:43 PM: Bortles goes deep for Cole, but is intercepted in the end zone. 3:50 left in the season.
3:35 PM: The Jaguars do nothing as Bortles is sacked by Watt for the second time today. Watson is nearly picked off by Ramsey on a fantastic play by Jalen, but it’s ruled the ball was not fully caught on the way down. Houston is forced to punt back to the Jaguars, who stil trail 20-3 with 7:44 left.
3:22 PM: After a long drive, Houston is turned away on three consecutive plays from inside the Jaguars 10 yard line, resulting in a converted Fairbairn field goal. Texans lead 20-3, with 10:52 left in the game.
3:04 PM: Jacksonville’s defense has continued to mostly play efficiently thus far, holding Houston to another punt that is downed inside the Jags 10 yard line. Of note, Campbell notched another sack for his 10.5 sack this season. That makes him the first Jaguar in history to record back to back double-digit sacks. He needs to be back here in ‘19. 17-3 Texans, as we enter the final quarter of 2018.
2:57 PM: I’ll let you guess how the drive went?.....Yup, another punt! Houston gets the ball at their 24 yard line. 5:45 left in the third quarter.
2:50 PM: The Texans punt it back, after Malik Jackson registers the third sack of the day on Watson. Houston downs the punt inside the 5 yard line.
2:42 PM: The Jaguars open the second half with the same results as the drives from the first half. Bortles overshoots a wide open Westbrook 30 yards downfield for what would’ve been a walk in touchdown. Jaguars punt.
2:32 PM: We’ve reached half time for the final time in 2018. Texans lead 17-3, in what is likely all they will need to seal the win and become AFC South champions. The Jaguars are head towards 5-11, and a lot of uncertainty after the last thirty minutes play out.
2:22 PM: Houston quickly punts is back, after Yannick Ngakoue and Calais Campbell combine for the sack on third down. That will likely put Campbell and Ngakoue at 9.5 sacks each on the year.
2:20 PM: The Texans take over from their own 20 following a Logan Cooke punt, after Bortles nearly fumbles it away on 3rd down following a JJ Watt strip. We got a minute and a half left in half number one.
2:12 PM: Watson runs for a combined 23 yards, then has a pass go off the chest of Myles Jack and into the arms of Hopkins for another 16 yard gain. Houston capitalizes with Lamar Miller running through Jaguars rookie Tre Herndon and into the end zone. Houston leads 17-3, with 3:01 left in the first half. This is pretty much done.
2:07 PM: Bortles has his 89th career pass batted at the line, then throws at the shoelaces of Keelan Cole, and the Jags punt it away. Houston takes it from their 37 yard line. Still 10-3, Houston.
1:55 PM: After a third down pass intended for Hopkins sails way out of bounds, with Ramsey trailing in coverage, Daniels punts the ball inside the Jaguars 5 yard line. This can only end one way, and it’s not good.
1:49 PM: You’re going to read this often today, as you have all season, but the Jaguars are unable to move the ball much as a couple of David Williams runs go nowhere, and Bortles is stopped well short of the sticks on third down. The Texans take over at around their 35 yard line.
1:44 PM: This time Watson is not to be denied, as the Texans move inside the Jaguars 10 yard line, and Watson runs the option and decides to keep it himself untouched into the end zone. The extra point is good, and the Texans lead 10-3 as we start the second quarter.
1:39 PM: The Jaguars get another three and out, but on the ensuing punt, Westbrook muffs it and it’s recovered by Houston around midfield. They take over to revive the posession. The Jaguars have now committed a turnover in every game this season, the only team in the NFL to do so.
1:32 PM: After a pass to James O’Shaughnessy goes for 9 yards, the Jags can move no further, with a Bortles pass falling yards short of Donte Moncrief to end the drive. Houston takes the ensuing punt out to the Jags 20.
1:30 PM: The Texans march down the field and appeared to score a touchdown on a 4 yard Watson run, but it was ruled he was down at the 1 yard line. The Jaguars hold another Watson run attempt short, and the Texans are forced to kick the field goal to tie the game at 3-3.
1:16 PM: Despite having first and goal from the 10, the offense can do nothing with it as Bortles’ attempt on third down is batted by JJ Watt and taken out of the air by Dede Westbrook who is able to at least keep it from being picked. Kai Forbath kicks it through, and the Jags lead, 3-0.
1:14 PM: The Jaguars challenged that DJ Chark was blocked into the returner who fumbled, and recovered by Blair Brown. The challenge is won and Jags take over at Houston’s 10. Oh God.
1:07 PM: The Jaguars return the favor and go three and out as well, as Blake Bortles’ third down pass is nearly intercepted by Kareem Jackson. The Texans field the punt inside their 20.
1:04 PM: A very quick three and out for Houston. Jalen Ramsey makes a nice pass break up on a ball intended for Deandre Hopkins on third and six. Jaguars take over at their own 35.
1:02 PM: The Jaguars won the toss and deferred, The Texans start from their 25, we are underway.
12:09 PM: Today’s game is likely the final time we will see the following players in a Jaguars uniform:
Malik Jackson, Blake Bortles, Tashaun Gipson, TJ Yeldon, AJ Cann, Donte Moncrief
With Jeremy Parnell, Telvin Smith, and Leonard Fournette potentially being moved as well.
11:39 AM: Here are the inactives, two major players have ended 2018 early, in Leonard Fournette and A.J. Bouye.

11:30 AM: Good morning! Lots of off-field subplots are surrounding the Jags as they close out one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history. Will Doug Marrone indeed survive another season, as has been speculated? Will Dave Caldwell be relieved of his duties following today’s game, as has also been rumored? How does the team go about letting go of Blake Bortles, who is making what is almost certain to be his final start as a Jaguar? We won’t have a lot of answers immediately, but we do have a game to get through to get there, so here we go!
