Minutes after the Jaguars ended the most disappointing season in franchise history, losing to the Houston Texans 20-3, and finishing the season 5-11, owner Shad Khan ended any speculation of major changes to the front office and coaching staff as he announced that Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin, General Manager David Caldwell, and Head Coach Doug Marrone, will all return in the same capacities for the 2019 season.

Those of us here at Big Cat Country had heard two weeks ago that the final decisions on Caldwell and Marrone’s futures respectively would be left to Tom Coughlin to make, per Khan’s direction. While Marrone being safe is not a surprise, I have to say that Caldwell staying on is a complete shock, as the thought not just here but among many Jaguars insiders was that Caldwell was all but out the door.
Now the franchise leaves the trust of fixing essentially an entire offense, in the hands of the same group that basically left us with the disaster that was this season. To say this is an odd move leaving an absolutely insane amount of questions moving forward, is an understatement.
