As we get closer to the start of NFL free agency it appears less and less likely that Allen Robinson is going to return to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Some have already accepted this and moved on, while others hold out hope that while the Jaguars are the only team who can actually offer him a contract until Wednesday will hammer out a deal before he hits the open market.
Given recent reports from CBS’s Jason La Canfora however, seems like it will be a bit too late for that. Robinson reportedly has three teams showing heavy interest and a couple of other teams showing interest as well. The 49ers are expected to make a big push for Robinson, as well as a few others noted by La Canfora.
There will be ample competition for Robinson – the Bears and Browns are among those hot after him, I’m told (while teams like the Ravens and Panthers have some interest but have cap constraints they are fighting against). And the Jaguars would love to keep him.
At this point I don’t think Robinson will be back with the Jaguars unless this reported heavy interest doesn’t include a lot of money. Three of those teams reportedly interested however have a lot of money to burn and the need for weapons on offense, so I don’t think money will be an issue for Robinson.
On the Jaguars end it will be interesting to see how the approach trying to add to the wide receiver position.
