The Jacksonville Jaguars have a loaded roster — the offensive line is a top-five unit, the secondary might be best in the league, the defensive line is stacked, and...
Well, the quarterback could be better.
Blake Bortles is an inconsistent passer and as he goes, this team goes. Does this team have the roster in place to make a Super Bowl run this year? Absolutely. Can Blake mess that up with continued up-and-down play that has plagued his first four years in the league? Again, absolutely.
And that’s what Vegas thinks the Jaguars will do this year.
Dan Kadar of MockingTheDraft.com looked at the Vegas predicted win totals and found that while the Jaguars will probably make the playoffs this year, they won’t make it far and they’ll be picking No. 23 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Who will they be picking? Kadar has his prediction:
23. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
Stidham has to take a step forward in his development this season, but he has the type of raw tools you often see in a quarterback.
Stidham is the fourth of five quarterbacks that Kadar has going in the first round, with the top three being Justin Herbert (Oregon), Drew Lock (Missouri), and Shea Patterson (Michigan).
What do you think? Will Blake prove he’s the long-term answer this year? Or will the Jaguars make a move for a quarterback after another good-but-not-good-enough season?
