With -140 odds, only the New England Patriots (sure), Pittsburgh Steelers (it’s the AFC North so), and Los Angeles Chargers (excuse me) have better odds in the AFC.
The Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, and Los Angeles Rams all make sense — although personally I think the Packers fall off this year and the New Orleans Saints deserve a little more respect but Aaron Rodgers I guess?
Another thing... why are the Houston Texans so highly favored at -135? This should be something similar to the AFC North where the Steelers are favored and everyone else is fighting for second place. Deshaun Watson looked good last year before his injury (really, really good) but what else about the Texans screams a photo finish for the AFC South? If anything, it should be the Tennessee Titans. (I just threw up a little.)
All this means is that oddsmakers think the Jaguars will pick up where they left off last year — slight favorites to win the AFC South by what looks like a game (or even a tie breaker) and then underdogs against what are thought to be better teams in their respective divisions.
Fine by me.
