Jaguars prepare for joint practices with Vikings

NFL: Pro Bowl-NFC vs AFC Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

In what is sure to be the most eventful week of training camp, the Jacksonville Jaguars will travel up north to participate in two days of joint practice sessions with the Minnesota Vikings, at the Vikings practice facilities in Eagan, MN.

This will be the biggest test the Jaguars will face all preseason, in my opinion, as much like the Jaguars the Vikings fell a game short of the Super Bowl in 2017. The team added a player many Jags fans coveted, (wrongly so), this past March in quarterback Kirk Cousins, and returns mostly intact a defense that actually placed above the Jaguars in overall defensive rankings.

On offense, in addition to Cousins, the Vikings feature a number of big play skill players in receivers Stefon Diggs and Pro Bowler Adam Thielen, along with the return of former Florida St. stand out Dalvin Cook, following a season ending injury last year. Defensively, the team fields standouts along the front and back ends. The defensive line may match the Jaguars in talent across the board, with defensive ends Danielle Hunter and Everson Griffen and tackles Linvall Joseph and former Jet Sheldon Richardson. Linebacker Anthony Barr is among the best in the league, and the secondary hosts two Pro Bowlers in corner Xavier Rhodes and safety Harrison Smith.

Suffice it to say, the task for the Jaguars this week will be a tough one. If this is the team we believe it is, and they showed no signs of it not being so thus far, this will be a really entertaining show being put on this week.

The team’s two practice sessions will take place August 15th & 16th, and culminate with preseason game number two this Saturday, at 1 PM EST. The game will be nationally televised on NFL Network.
