Was Jalen Ramsey right in Week 1 about Eli Manning? (Yes.)

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

In our first weekly installment of “Was Jalen Ramsey Right?” we had the pleasure of watching the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the New York Giants and a front row seat to analyzing the All-Pro cornerback’s comments about Eli Manning — a two-time Super Bowl champion who, in Ramsey’s words, is viewed as good as he is because of Odell Beckham, Jr.

Here are Ramsey’s comments about Eli in this summer’s GQ article:

“Eli [Manning]... It’s not really Eli. I think it’s Odell [Beckham, Jr.]. I won’t say Eli’s good, I’ll say Odell’s good. And their connection is good.”

Manning finished the game 23-for-37 for 224 yards and an interception. Zero touchdowns. His 6.1 yards per pass attempt would tie him for 30th in the league last year with DeShone Kizer. And when you take away his targets to Beckham (11-for-15 for 111 yards) he’s left with a stat line of 12-for-22 for 113 yards throwing to other receivers and a pathetic 5.1 yards per pass attempt.

His longest pass of the day without Beckham was an 18-yarder to Saquon Barkley and his longest to a receiver was a 16-yard catch by Sterling Shepard.

Verdict: Ramsey was right.
