Pro Football Focus is charting everything when it comes to the 2018 NFL regular season and that includes the Week 1 season opener between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants.
So who was the cream of the crop on Sunday? Let’s check in with Pro Football Focus:
Offense
- The Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line ranked second in Week 1 with a pass blocking efficiency rating of 97.2. On 36 passing snaps the offensive line allowed just two total pressures.
- It was offensive tackle Jermey Parnell who was the star of the unit achieving a pass block grade of 83.6 which ranked fourth among tackles in Week 1. He did not allow a single pressure on his 36 pass blocking snaps.
Defense
- Free agent signing D.J. Hayden was on lock in coverage on Sunday versus the Giants. His 90.3 coverage grade was the second highest by a corner in Week 1. Hayden saw 24 snaps in slot coverage only allowing a passer rating of 77.1 in those snaps.
- The key match up heading into this game was Jalen Ramsey versus Odell Beckham Jr and it was Beckham who got the better on this occasion. Ramsey earned a coverage grade of 52.4 when covering Beckham, allowing five of the seven targets to be completed for 75 yards.
