Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New England Patriots: Week 2 sack analysis

Even with a backup left tackle, the offensive line blanked the Patriots defense for zero sacks.

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars-Training Camp Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars decided the best way to beat the New England Patriots yesterday was to turn Blake Bortles loose to the tune of 45 pass attempts (and several additional scrambles that would have been passes had the receiver been there).

That’s a lot of pass attempts and a number Blake only reaches about twice in a given season. Surely with that many drop backs there would be some sacks, right?

Right?

Bueller?

Nope.

Zero sacks. Blake went back to pass 45 times and rushed out of a pass play six additional times and wasn’t sacked once. Backup left tackle Josh Wells came in for an injured Cam Robinson early in the game and performed well. The rest of the line was great — only allowing Bortles to get hit four times on those 45 passes.

I love these columns when I have nothing to break down.
