Week 3 NFL odds: Best plays and bet your mortgage on the Browns (no, really)

NFL: Cleveland Browns at New Orleans Saints Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

After two weeks, we’re dead even — three wins in Week 1 and three losses in Week 2.

How does Week 3 look? Let’s check it out!

Note: I use Bovada’s odds just a few hours before the game for all the spreads.

Cleveland Browns (-3.0) vs. New York Jets

The Browns are so, so close to 2-0 but it’s small margins — wet conditions, bad calls, a kicker who was playing through an injury — that have been the difference between undefeated and half a win through two weeks. Tonight, they get over the hump for the first time in 635 days because they’re at home on a short week and they cover the spread winning by at least four.

Bet on the Browns (as favorites! what is happening?) and give three points to the Jets.

Miami Dolphins (-3.0) vs. Oakland Raiders

Sure, the Dolphins haven’t really beaten up on the NFL’s elite, but they’re 2-0 and at home facing a winless Raiders team who is making their first cross-country trip of the year.

Bet on the Dolphins and give three points to the Raiders.

Atlanta Falcons (-3.0) vs. New Orleans Saints

The Saints have played poorly at home in their first two games and now they’re on the road for the first time this season to a Falcons team that’s banged up but still very good on offense.

Bet on the Falcons and give three points to the Saints.

Jacksonville Jaguars (-6.5) vs. Tennessee Titans

This is a hate bet, pure and simple. I want to ground Blaine Gabbert into dust. I want Mike Vrabel fired in the third quarter. I want to run for 250 yards all over this Titans team and speedboat them into eternity. And it will be so on Sunday. Amen.

Bet on the Jaguars to win by seven or more.

Overall: 4-4
