Big Cat Country Q&A: How can the Jaguars stop Derrick Henry?

Let’s answer some questions ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars facing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 of the 2019 NFL season!

Chip from Jacksonville, FL

Q: We have been season ticket holders since arriving in Jacksonville. It’s said insanity is doing things the same way expecting different results. Are the Jaguars going to make changes in leadership?

A: They have to, right? I mean, I’m not getting my hopes up because Shad Khan has been a poor owner who has exercised poor judgment when it comes to football decisions. Until he does what he should over what is easy this team will suffer. I think a reasonable expectation for this team is to finish 6-10. Their ceiling is 7-9. The floor is 4-12. If you’re Khan and you’re not already planning for sweeping changes next season, what are we even doing here?

A-A-Aron from Jacksonville, FL

Q: Is your house on fire, Clark?

A: No, Aunt Bethany, those are the Christmas lights.

Logan from Atlantic Beach, FL

Q: What will the Jaguars defense have to in order to stop Derrick Henry?

A: Stack the box and dare Ryan Tannehill to beat them. You have to give your run defense extra help because the front seven is not getting it done on their own. You have a good pair of outside cornerbacks in A.J. Bouye and Tre Herndon and D.J. Hayden is as good a nickel cornerback as you’ll find in the NFL. You need to load the box and put the burden on the secondary to win the game.

Brandon from Rochester, NY

Q: Is Antonio Brown a solution?

A: Um.

RJ from Sanford, FL

Q: Do you think this is a must win for the coaching staff before the front office starts considering making changes?

A: I think everyone is out after this season — front office, coaches, coordinators, and some players. You can see it in Doug Marrone’s body language and the way he’s talking now. He knows he’s cooked. I think he regrets the decision to go back to Nick Foles immensely and if he had to do it all over again I think he’d stick with Gardner Minshew. If it were up to me, I’d keep him and fire everyone else because I think he’s a net-neutral head coach and there aren’t many of those in the league. But if it takes him getting fired to get Tom Coughlin, Dave Caldwell, and Todd Wash fired, then so be it.

Rafael from Monterrey, Mexico

Q: Are we still suck next year?

A: I don’t think we are suck next year, Rafael.

Ray from New Iberia, LA

Q: How long do you keep Myles Jack at middle linebacker?

A: For as long as Todd Wash is the defensive coordinator and Doug Marrone are the head coach. I think he’s eventually moved back to outside when a new front office and coaching staff come to town.
