Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars had one of their worst games as an offense.
This week against the Indianapolis Colts, we dominated.
Who was responsible for the three sacks the Colts got last weekend? Let’s take a look.
Sack #1: 2nd & 6 at JAX 43, 7:02 in 2Q
G. Minshew II sacked at JAX 41 for -2 yards (B. Boddy-Calhoun).
Gardner Minshew has gotten better in recent weeks about not going crazy in the pocket and bringing sacks on himself. This... is not one of those times. The play just looks busted from the get go, backup running back Devine Ozigbo actually does a decent job of getting in front of his man, but the whole thing looks like a clusterf*ck.
Sack #2: 3rd & 8 at JAX 13, 13:21 in 4Q
(Shotgun) G. Minshew II pass incomplete short right (J. Houston) [J. Houston]. Jacksonville challenged the incomplete pass ruling, and the play was REVERSED. (Shotgun) G. Minshew II sacked at JAX 7 for -6 yards (J. Houston). FUMBLES (J. Houston), touched at JAX 18, recovered by JAX-D. Westbrook at JAX 26. D. Westbrook to JAX 26 for no gain (G. Odum)
This is one of my favorite plays of the entire season. Originally, this was ruled an incomplete pass but Doug Marrone challenged it was actually a fumble. Why would he do that? Well, because Dede Westbrook recovered it nearly 15 yards downfield. The ruling on the field was overturned and it’s officially a sack, fumble that went up field for a first down, and recovered by the Jaguars.
If not for the challenge, this is an incomplete pass and a forgotten play. So... who’s to blame?
Fault: Doug Marrone
Sack #3: 3rd & 8 at JAX 40, 11:29 in 4Q
(Shotgun) G. Minshew II sacked at JAX 33 for -7 yards (J. Sheard)
Jawaan Taylor has had a fantastic stretch of games to end the season, but he gets pushed back here by Jabaal Sheard.
Fault: Jawaan Taylor
Only one sack that was truly on the offensive line and we got to see the wackiest play of the season. Victory!
