2019 NFL mock draft: Jaguars pick TE T.J. Hockenson

NCAA Football: Iowa at Indiana Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars hold the No. 7 overall pick and while we wouldn’t be surprised with a pick at any offensive position (besides running back!) there are some we’d be happier with than others.

Quarterback? Let’s go.

Wide receiver? I mean, I guess.

Offensive tackle? Wait...

Running back? pls

But what about tight end? The NFL passing game has evolved along with the increasing frame of athletic tight ends to where they’re more valuable than ever.

So, let’s fire up the old mock draft machine and see who Dan Kadar of MockingTheDraft.com slotted for us!

7. Jacksonville Jaguars: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa

Offseason needs: Quarterback, offensive line, tight end, safety

When the Jaguars inevitably sign quarterback Nick Foles in free agency, it’s imperative they smartly build around him. What smarter way than a dependable tight end who can help in the pass and run game? Hockenson is one of this draft’s best prospects because he’s such a good all-around player. He may not be Travis Kelce or Rob Gronkowski, but he has traits of both in his game.

What do you think? Would you rather build around a stop gap veteran at quarterback with a highly rated tight end? Or would you rather go all in on Dwayne Haskins this year?
