Jaguars select Dontavious Russell

The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected defensive tackle Dontavious Russell with their first of two seventh round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Russell, a three-year starter at Auburn at the tackle spot , fits the mold of physique wise of a Tom Coughlin/Dave Caldwell interior defensive lineman, standing at 6’3 319 pounds. He started all thirteen games for the Tigers, registering 36 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Most analysts project Russell as a nose tackle in the NFL, and he’ll likely compete for the back up role to Marcell Dareus with Abry Jones.

The Jaguars had the 236th selection, but have traded it to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 sixth round pick. That wraps up the Jaguars 2019 draft, in all likelihood.
