Tom Coughlin is well known for his love of big men, and he was not coy in his affinity for new Jaguars right tackle Jawaan Taylor during the team’s post-draft press conference.
Per Phillip Heilman of the Florida Times-Union, Coughlin made it pretty clear as to what drove the team to make the trade up in the second round to obtain the rights to the offensinve lineman many had pegged to the team at seventh overall.
Tom Coughlin says getting OT Jawaan Taylor in the second round “legitimately made the draft” for the #Jaguars. Felt like they got two first-round picks.

It would be hard to disagree with that assessment from Coughlin, as Taylor was nearly unanimously rated as the top tackle prospect by national draft experts leading into this week’s draft, what was not factored in was a questionable knee that led to teams passing on him in the first round.
The Jaguars undoubtedly hope Taylor answers any questions regarding the health of his knee in the same way Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack have.
