Jaguars 90 in 90: Alfred Blue

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars-OTA Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

As we work our way through the summer in preparation for 2019 training camp and the 2019 preseason, we thought it would be a good idea to go down the roster and take a peak at every single player on the Jaguars 90 man. A lot of these players we already know, but roughly half of them won’t make the final roster and there will be some battles on the back end, so this can give us at least some precursory information on players we may not be familiar with.

Now you can look smart watching the preseason games with your friends when they say “Wow, who is that guy?!” — You’ll know.

Next up, running back Alfred Blue.

Alfred Blue, veteran, 28, LSU

Getting back on track with the look at the Jacksonville Jaguars 90-man roster, we turn our attention to Alfred Blue. The Jaguars running back room went through a complete overhaul outside of Leonard Fournette. Everyone else who was on the roster last season at the position is now gone, and frankly that’s how it needed to be. It was time for the team to move on from T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant and build a function running back room.

With the addition of someone like Blue, Blue should be a similar replacement for Fournette along with Ryquell Armstead, which is something the Jaguars comically lacked going into last season out of the gate, keeping only three running backs with three entirely different skill sets. Blue has a lot of experience in the NFL, all of it with the Houston Texans, and the majority of that as a back up running back who was decently productive. He should allow the Jaguars to not change much down-to-down when he replaces Fournette in the game, which should be a big boost to the offense.
