Jalen Ramsey helps displaced Calloway Cove residents

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars-Training Camp Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback makes a lot of headlines, especially nationally, because of his stellar play on the field and some of his wacky antics off of it. This story however is for neither of those, but for his charity off the field and helping out, which often goes unreported.

Recently there was an explosion and fire for the Calloway Cove apartments on the Northside of Jacksonville, which has led a lot of residents displaced and living temporarily in a hotel. On Sunday the brash Jaguars cornerback paid some of the families a visit and brought them a very nice dinner from Capital Grille.

“It’s just a sad, very sad, unfortunate tragedy, honestly,” Ramsey told News4Jax. ”At the end of the day, I just try to support them, and thank God that everybody’s OK.”

Ramsey has a bit of a rep around town doing stuff like this, without fanfare. I remember a few months ago I was tipped off to Ramsey buying a bunch of pizzas from Moon River for a Boys and Girls club in town, but I didn’t do much outside of Tweet it out, because it didn’t seem like something he really wanted advertised.

Just remember, a lot of what NFL players do in the community often goes unreported.
