The Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to play away to the Miami Dolphins in the preseason game most important to watch for most NFL teams — Week 3! That’s because this will be the week where the starters will play the most they ever will before the regular season opener.

We’re going to get to see Nick Foles throw his first pass as quarterback for this franchise. The offensive line has gotten sorted and we’ll see who the coaching staff wants to play well enough to stay as the starting five. There’s as much game planning and scheming as there ever will be for a preseason game.

And more!

Follow along here for all the latest news, analysis, video, and more from tonight’s game.

Live blog

11:19 PM: Miami adds another field goal, and Minshew and the offense struggle to do much along the way. The Dolphins clean this one up 22-7. Thanks for hanging out on a Thursday night, we’ll see you next week for the merciful end to the preseason.

10:31 PM: Not much action between the two teams as we are in the early stages of the final quarter, but Josh Rosen now into the game for Miami and is guiding the Dolphins deep into Jaguars territory. Both teams just trying to get the clock to 0:00 at this point, but Miami puts another touchdown on the board with running back Patrick Laird running over a Jaguars defender. The Dolphins started at their own 1 yard line....yup. 19-7, Dolphins.

10:10 PM: The Dolphins, with Ryan Fitzpatrick still in, move down the field on the ensuing drive thanks in part to a couple of blown coverages by the Jags full back up defense now, with big plays downfield by tight end Nick O’Leary for Miami, finish with their first touchdown of the night from Fitz to a Miami running back. The extra point is wide right, 12-7, Dolphins half through the third quarter.

10:00 PM: The Jags open up half number two with a first down completion to CJ Board from Minshew, then quickly go three and out.

9:40 PM: After Josh Allen and and some other guys stop Miami on consecutive downs, the Dolphins are able to convert another field goal, making it 7-6, Jags. Minshew and the offense stall out and can do little else with the ball but get towards midfield before punting. We have reached half time of “The Josh Allen & Friends Show”. Bigges takeaway from the first half? The first team defense is going to be very good again, the first team offense should’ve played more than a quarter of football this preseason.

9:22 PM: Gardner Minshew leads most of second team offense onto the field and guides the team to field goal range allowing Josh Lambo to attempt a 55-yard field goal, which he pushes wide left. The kick had the distance but just a bit outside. Jawaan Taylor was the lone starter still playing as the team gets him reps in his preseason debut and he has been as good as Allen has on defense. Of not, DJ Chark is being evaluated for concussion, following a crushing hit on the kick off return. Foles finished 6/10 for 53 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

9:09 PM: The Dolphins are turned away from the end zone after a long gain by the tight end Gisecki, but Josh Allen and Duane Smoot make multiple plays on the drive to keep Fitzpatrick and the offense to 3 points. Y’all, I can’t stress enough how badly Allen is dominating the Dolphins almost single-handedly tonight.

9:03 PM: First real bad throw of the night from Foles is intercepted by Eric Rowe. Foles tried to force the ball to Westbrook with Rowe in tight coverage, and the corner jumped the route. Miami takes over at midfield.

8:59 PM: That ends the first quarter. The first team defense has been nothing short of outstanding as should be expected against a Miami offense that is likely going to be among the worst in the league this season. The offense, after a clunky start, seemed to find it’s footing culminating in the touchdown. We start the second quarter with the Jaguars facing third and long following a bad decision by rookie Ryquell Armstead that turned no gain into a loss of about four. with Foles and the starters still in.

8:47 PM: TOUCHDOWN! Nick Foles leads an 8 play, 75 yard drive assisted by a third down pass interference call mid-drive on a ball to All-Pro receiver Chris Conley, and caps it off with a 10 yard touchdown pass to Westbrook on a clean roll out throw in the back of the end zone. That should be it for the starters. Foles and Fournette both looked much better on the drive. 7-0 Jags.

8:38 PM: Stop me if you’ve heard this already...but holy cow, Josh Allen. On 3rd and mid, Allen beats his man inside this time and forces an errant throw from Fitzpatrick to force a punt. Allen has been EVERYTHING they’ve been waiting to see thus far tonight.

8:32 PM: Folks, the Jags’ offense thus far looks the same as we’re used to, just with a tighter spiral. Short passes, Fournette into a pile for next to nothing, and an incomplete pass. Three and out again, though the team is challenging that Westbrook was interfered with. It did not appear to be blatant enough on replay.

8:27 PM: Josh Allen makes a fantastic play in the backfield on third and three to take down the running back for a four yard loss and force another three and out. Allen showed speed, power, and great vision to find the ball carrier. The Jags have showed their nickel line of Allen, Campbell, Bryan, Ngakoue and it’s paid off.

8:22 PM: The Jaguars return the favor in our first look at Nick Foles and the offense. Dede Westbrook opens the drive with a short drag route completion, but on a third and five pass in the flat to Leonard Fournette is on and off the back’s hands. Logan Cooke punts it away.

8:19 PM: The starting defense holds the Phins to a quick three and out. Good pressure from Josh Allen on first down forced a wide throw, followed by a pass break up by Ronnie Harrison, and a dropped pass on 3rd down.

8:15 PM: The Jaguars defer to the second half, and we’ll see the defensive starters first against Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins offense. Here we go.

8:00 PM: This is a good sign of maturity and leadership from your team’s best player.

7:37 PM: We will indeed see a majority of the starters, including Nick Foles, for the first time in 2019 tonight. The Jags have announced that only the nine players previously ruled out earlier this week will be sitting. A line up change of note, Will Richardson will start at right guard. It appears he has won the starting guard spot over A.J. Cann.

2:25 PM: Who said the Jaguars don’t play nationally televised games?

8:57 AM: Here’s our look at 21 players who the Jaguars should be targeting, regardless of tonight’s outcome. Running back and tight end are the most important to upgrade before the regular season.

8:29 AM: Brandon Linder getting the nod as the featured player on Jaguars social this morning. Interesting.
