Now that the preseason is officially over, the Jacksonville Jaguars will soon begin their 2019 NFL roster cuts. The Jaguars have until 4:00pm EST on Saturday, August 31 to get their roster down to the regular season 53-player limit.
Stay tuned to this thread for lives updates on roster cuts, trades, rumors, and more. The Jaguars might not officially confirm their roster moves until Saturday afternoon but some of their moves will slowly leak out through media reports before then.
Roster cuts and updates
8:25 PM: Not art. Picasso Nelson had an interception too. Great read of the defense on the play, smart guy.
#Jaguars are waiving rookie CB Picasso Nelson, per source. Had an interception against Philly.

5:37 PM: A pair of tight ends is gone — Donnie Ernsberger and Ethan Wolf. Neither really stood out in the preseason (and the tight ends group is pretty weak as a whole) but both should be practice squad candidates.
#Jaguars are waiving TE Donnie Ernsberger. Another practice squad candidate. Can do some H-back stuff as well.

#Jaguars are waiving TE Ethan Wolf, per source. Would think they get at least one tight end on the practice squad.

5:05 PM: A pair of defensive linemen gone. Kalani Vakameilalo and Michael Hughes weren’t going to make the team anyway.
The #Jaguars are waiving DT Kalani Vakameilalo, per source.

#Jaguars have waived DT Michael Hughes, per source.

4:59 PM: I had Josh Wells on my 53-man roster prediction, as did Alfie Crow. For me, it was less about how good he was but how bad his competition is. If Leonard Wester makes it, so help me...
Josh Wells: ''It has been a blessing to be here that long, but that's the nature of the business in always trying to find a way to be the best team in the NFL. So I think I've come to understand it from the business side.'' #Jaguars

4:15 PM: Jaguars officially announced they have released DL Datone Jones, RB Thomas Rawls, OL Josh Wells and LB Ramik Wilson, and releasing LB Davis Tull via injury settlement, bringing their roster down to 85 players. More or less most of the bubble vested veterans.
2:58 PM: Another rookie cornerback hits the waiver wire. Tae Hayes had a decent outing this preseason, but the cornerbacks room is stacked.
The #Jaguars are waiving rookie CB Tae Hayes, per source. Hayes had an interception and four passes defensed in a productive preseason.

2:28 PM: What the heck happened to Jake Ryan this offseason?
More: The #Jaguars are expected to place LB Jake Ryan on reserve/NFI, source said. Bad news there. … Meanwhile, the #Colts are releasing DT Caraun Reid, source said.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 30, 2019
2:07 PM: C.J. Reavis is the second most surprising cut behind Datone Jones. I do not get it.
More cuts: The #Browns released DB Montrel Meander, source said. …. The #Jaguars released S C.J. Reavis, per source.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 30, 2019
1:19 PM: I like the idea of putting in a waiver claim for Pharoh Cooper.
This is my bet for Jags WR6, fwiw https://t.co/ST2Kq3fiBJ
— Filip Prus (@JaxonFil) August 30, 2019
1:04 PM: Before you ask, no. We should not sign Shane Ray.
Former Broncos 1st Rounder Shane Ray has been waived by the Ravens.
— Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) August 30, 2019
12:31 PM: Interesting. Brandon Marshall would be good for the Jaguars... if he’s willing to come back. They need a lot of help at linebacker.
A surprise release: the Raiders have terminated linebacker Brandon Marshall, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 30, 2019
11:20 AM: And just like that The Goo is gone, but he will likely be back on the practice squad.
Not a surprise, but league sources confirm that Jaguars have released QB Alex McGough.
— Michael DiRocco (@ESPNdirocco) August 30, 2019
10:20 AM: A little context on the Datone Jones cut. Maybe they bring him back? I don’t know. I think he gets snatched up off waivers before the season starts, honestly.
Could be a guaranteed money move, could bring back after Week 1.

10:13 AM: Two more cuts — veteran wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and rookie cornerback Saivion Smith. Not surprised by either of these.

9:48 AM: Our first (reported) cut. Veteran defensive tackle Datone Jones is gone. Surprised, honestly. I thought he played more than well enough to earn a spot on the final roster.
Tomorrow is cut-down but for some teams, they have begun: The #Jaguars have released former first-round DT Datone Jones, source said. He blocked a FG last night.

9:40 AM: We’ve got our 53-man roster predictions right here!
Ryan’s 53-man roster prediction | Alfie’s 53-man roster prediction
