Jalen Ramsey details why he asked for a trade on ‘17 Weeks’ podcast

As we all know, Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has officially asked for the team to trade him, as he thinks his time in Jacksonville is done. There has been a lot of speculation as to why he made this request, ranging from issues with the defensive scheme, the coaching staff, lack of a new contract and even the Jaguars front office.

Prior to the Jaguars Thursday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans, which as of writing this Ramsey is expected to start, Ramsey appeared on the Uninterrupted “17 Weeks” podcast with Nate Burleson. Ramsey detailed why he asked for a trade and noted that it wasn’t a rash decision, but something that has been building for a long time.

“Requesting the trade was something that has kind of been building for over a little bit of time,” Ramsey told Burleson. “It has nothing to do with my teammates here, it has nothing to do with the city.”

“It was more about the front office and the organization,” Ramsey continued. “I called my agent after the game.”

Jalen mentioned he didn’t care about the sideline blowup with head coach Doug Marrone and that things like that happen in the NFL. Emotions run wild in an intense game and you lose your cool. Ramsey said he didn’t care about that and it had nothing to do with his request.

“Some disrespectful things were said on their (Jacksonville) end that made me definitely walk out and call my agent as soon as I walked out,” Ramsey said. “I said, ‘It is time. My time is up here in Jacksonville. I want to ask for a trade.’”

Ramsey said he made sure not to make the decision out of anger or emotion and he’s at peace with the decision he made.
