Big Cat Country Q&A: Can I believe in Gardner Minshew yet?

Let’s answer some questions ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars facing the Denver Broncos in Week 4!

Andy from Manchester, UK

Q: What, specifically, are the Denver Broncos gonna do when Minshew Mania runs wild on them?

A: I have a feeling Gardner Minshew is gonna have a big game against the Broncos. I really, really do.

KC from Miami, FL

Q: What do the Jaguars have to do to get the running game going?

A: Sign better offensive linemen and replace Leonard Fournette, the former being more important than the latter.

Aub C. from Jacksonville, FL

Q: How much will the altitude in Denver affect the Jaguars’ performance?

A: Heavily! In short — in high-altitude environments, you draw in less oxygen per breath than you would at lower altitudes. That’s why you’ll see players, especially Jaguars players, taking in oxygen masks on Sunday. The advantage is it’s a late game with a 4:25pm EST kickoff. That will give the Jaguars a few extra hours to get used to the field and the altitude.

Chevin from Jacksonville, FL

Q: Will the Jaguars offensive line be able run block effectively this season?

A: I don’t know, but it’s the single most concerning thing about the Jaguars’ offense so far this season.

Ian from St. Augustine, FL

Q: I saw a meme out there about Tom Coughlin trading Jalen Ramsey to the New York Giants for Eli Manning and a third round pick. How scared should I be that this happens considering Tom just reached out to his old quarterback?

A: All jokes aside, I don’t think owner Shad Khan would let it happen.

Jeremy from Grand Rapids, MI

Q: Please tell me that I can believe in Gardner Minshew. Tell me that he can be a franchise quarterback. Tell me that we just lucked into a quarterback in the sixth round that is miles above our last two first rounders combined. Tell me the truth, did we get our franchise QB?

A: Minshew has looked every bit the part so far his rookie season. He’s on pace to throw for 3,500 yards, 24 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and finish the year 8-8. That’s... a hell of a rookie year. If he continues playing as well as he has — or gets even better! — you have a Dak Prescott situation on your hands where you can keep him at a low rookie wage and build around him with offensive line, tight end, and running back help.

Jon from Beverly Hills, CA

Q: Do you think Tom “Get Off My Lawn” Coughlin will be fired this season or offseason?

A: I think it happens in the offseason.

Corey from Jacksonville, FL

Q: When are we calling Toby Gerhart to come back?

A: To do what? Mow the lawn?

Kyle from Fredericksburg, VA

Q: Do we pay Yannick Ngakoue?

A: If/When Tom Coughlin leaves, I think he and Jalen Ramsey get paid immediately.

Derek from Jacksonville, FL

Q: Is Marquise Lee going to have any type of role with the offense this year?

A: Not much. His injuries have hurt him over the course of his career. I think he’s gone in the offseason.

Katie from Spokane, WA

Q: What do you see being the biggest matchup problem on Sunday?

A: How the Jaguars defense handles the Broncos running backs. If we can contain them, I think the game is something like a 20-7 win, something like last week. If we can’t... it’s going to come down to the wire.
