After a week of “will he/won’t he” speculation regarding the playing status of Jaguars All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey, the team announced this afternoon that despite making the trip to Denver for the team’s game against the Broncos Ramsey will be inactive and not play in today’s game.

Ramsey initially appeared on the team’s injury report on Monday with what was designated and later confirmed as an illness, and then later in the week was excused from the team to participate in the birth of his second child. He then returned to the team prior to leaving for Denver, but was disclosed to also be suffering from a back strain issue. The chain of events followed a now two-weeks long speculation, (and array of awful national/local media takes) on of if Ramsey will play much longer for the Jags after requesting a trade following the team’s Week 2 loss to Houston.

This marks the first time in his Jaguars career that Ramsey will miss a regular season start. Second year corner Tre Herndon will be making the start in his place.
