The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to open their 2019 NFL season against the Kansas City Chiefs and there are quite a few players from either team who could make great additions to your DraftKings, FanDuel, or home league team at ESPN, Yahoo, and more.
According to OddsShark, the consensus over/under is around 52.0 points and the line is at -4 in favor of the Chiefs, so Vegas believes the score to be around 28-24 in favor of the Chiefs. That’s enough offensive production to be worth a few plays.
Here are my predictions at the best Jaguars players to play against the Chiefs in their Week 1 matchup.
WR Dede Westbrook
I doubt Westbrook is still available in any home leagues that use standard scoring although he’s a free agent in 9 percent of ESPN leagues and 8 percent of Yahoo leagues. In his only preseason action, he saw a 70 percent share of targets from starting quarterback Nick Foles — seven target on 10 pass attempts. He turned that into four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. At FanDuel ($5,900) and DraftKings ($4,800), he’s cheaper than guys like Calvin Ridley and Corey Davis — both on the road, while Westbrook will be at home against a relatively soft Chiefs defense. And if you’re in a PPR league, that’s even better. I think he’ll succeed in catches and touchdowns while having an average day in terms of yards.
Fantasy projection: 9 catches, 80 yards, 1 touchdown
RB Leonard Fournette
There is no doubting that Fournette is the workhorse back in Jacksonville. He’s owned in nearly every ESPN and Yahoo league and is starting in almost 95 percent of leagues. If he’s on your bench for every reason, move him up to start. But as far as FanDuel ($7,200) and DraftKings ($6,100) go, he’s not priced in the top 10 for either. As the team’s receiving back, he’s going to have a top 10 performance against the 31st worse defense last year in terms of total yards allowed.
Fantasy projection: 25 carries, 3 catches, 154 total yards, 2 touchdowns
Jaguars D/ST
Granted, they’re playing the Chiefs. But... the Jaguars D/ST is priced as one of the cheapest D/ST’s in both FanDuel ($3,900) and DraftKings ($2,300). While they’re likely not available in your home league, I think a season opener at home is a great time to take a great defense against a great offense. They won’t be the top performing D/ST of the week, but they’ll outplay their cost.
Fantasy projection: 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, 28 points allowed
