The Jacksonville Jaguars will be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs this afternoon in Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season — it’ll be a heck of an opener with an offensive runaway locomotive speeding towards a defensive stone wall.
Stay with us all through the afternoon as we live blog the game as it happens, and feel free to join the conversation in the comments as the day progresses. We’ll have postgame coverage as well following the conclusion of the game.
LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

3:59 PM: Folks, the CBS network cut the game half through the fourth quarter, but here is a summarization of today’s events...

3:09 PM: The Chiefs march methodically down field as the Jaguars start to implode on defense in full display. Williams runs it in for an easy score, and it’s about done here. 30-13 KC.
2:52 PM: After Minshew opens the second half orchestrating a great starting drive, Leonard Fournette fumbles on a 3rd & 2 inside KC territory. It’s Leonard’s first fumble of his career and it was a costly one.
2:33 PM: This probably the highlight of the day for the Jags other than the Foles to Chark TD.

2:26 PM: The Chiefs get around the 35 of the Jags before the defense stiffens and holds to another Kansas City field goal with 24 seconds remaining in the first half. Chiefs will likely go into half time leading by 10, 23-13.
2:11 PM: Gardner hits Chark on the first play of the drive on a 68 yard bomb down field, but a holding penalty on first & goal kills the drive, and the Jags settle for another field goal. Can’t do that against this team, but for his part, Minshew has done quite well thus far. 20-13 Chiefs. In other news, Foles has returned to the sideline with a sling on his arm.
2:03 PM: Whew..so a lot to unpack here. Kansas City drove down the field again but the Jags seemingly stopped them inside their 25 yard line as Josh Allen and Calais Campbell sack Mahomes on third down and force Mahomes to limp off the field. However, A scrum breaks out between Myles Jack and a couple of Chiefs players, leading to Jack losing his damn mind and being ejected from the game. Mahomes returns to the field and throws short of the end zone but is in apparent pain leaving the field. Chiefs kick the field goal, and I dont know whats going on anymore. 20-10 KC half through the second quarter and both the offensive and defensive captains for the Jags have been knocked out.
1:50 PM: Gardner Minshew goes 4/4 for 46 yards in his first go with the starters replacing the injured Foles and doesnt look...bad? Jags have to settle for a Lambo field goal to keep it a one score game, but the defense has to find something to answer this offense that is now minus Tyreek Hill who was injured on the previous drive. 17-10 Chiefs.
1:41 PM: Folks, Mahomes is abusing the defense. Hits Sammy Watkins again for a 40+ yard touchdown. To pour salt on the wound, Nick Foles has been ruled OUT for the game with a shoulder injury....I got nothing. 17-7 Chiefs.
1:31 PM: HELLO NICK FOLES! Jags take their second possession and capitalize with a 35 yard touchdown pass from Foles to D,J, Chark! 10-7 Chiefs.....but Foles took a big shot and looks hurt. HEAVY SIGH
1:24 PM: The Chiefs are moving the ball effortlessly. This is getting bad, folks. Jags get lucky that Mahomes misses a wide open Kelce in the end zone, 10-0 Chiefs.
1:14 PM: Run, pass, pass, punt for the Jags first possession for the starters who clearly didnt need any preseason work.
1:08 PM: Just like that, it’s 7-0 Chiefs. Mahomes hits Sammy Watkins over the middle on 3rd down and Watkins goes 60+ yards untouched. Blown opportunities by safeties Ronnie Harrison over the middle.
12:13 PM: Leonard Fournette being an awesome dude isn’t new, but it’s always really cool to see.
