The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed first-year kicker Jon Brown, rookie offensive lineman Blake Hance, rookie defensive end Chuck Harris, fourth-year wide receiver Charone Peake, first-year offensive lineman Ryan Pope, third-year defensive tackle Brian Price and rookie cornerback Jayson Stanley to reserve/future contracts.
The Jaguars also claimed fourth-year safety Josh Jones off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. Jones will officially be assigned to Jacksonville’s roster the day after the Super Bowl.
Brown originally entered the NFL in 2016 after signing with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2016. He attended the University of Louisville for four years (2012-2015) after transferring from the University of Kentucky in 2011. He began his collegiate career playing soccer at Kentucky and later joined Louisville’s soccer program. Brown joined the Cardinals football program in 2014 and served as a kicker on the team’s kickoff unit.
Peake, entered the NFL with the New York Jets as a seventh-round selection (241st overall) in 2016. He played in 31 games (one start) with the Jets from 2016-2018 and caught 22 passes for 214 yards, including 19 receptions for 186 yards as a rookie in 2016. In 2018, Peake was a key contributor on special teams and finished with 11 special teams tackles. Peake appeared in 49 games for Clemson and caught 99 passes for 1,172 yards and 10 touchdowns, including a career-high 50 receptions for 716 yards and five touchdowns as a senior in 2015.
Jones has played in 35 career NFL games (12 starts) and accumulated 119 tackles (93 solo), seven passes defended, 3.0 sacks and one interceptions. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft (61st overall) by Green Bay and played in 29 games (12 starts) from 2017-2018 for Packers. In 2019, Jones played in six games for the Dallas Cowboys, primarily on special teams. Jones attended North Carolina State from 2013-2016 and appeared in 38 games, making 32 starts, finishing each season in the top five in tackles. As a junior in 2016, he led the team with 109 tackles and three interceptions, earning honorable mention All-ACC honors.
Hance spent the entire 2019 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad after participating in training camp with Washington. He made 47 starts at Northwestern from 2014-2018.
Harris played collegiately at Buffalo and spent Weeks 11-17 on the Jaguars’ practice squad. In college, he appeared in 41 career games and totaled 149 tackles, including 22.5 tackles for loss and 12.0 sacks.
Pope was signed to the Jaguars’ practice squad in Week 12 after previously spending time on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and with the Detroit Lions in training camp. He played collegiately at San Diego State from 2015-2018 and appeared in 38 career games, earning second-team All-Mountain West honors following his senior season in 2018.
Price was signed to Jacksonville’s practice squad in 2019 and was placed on the team’s practice squad injured list later that season. He has played in 21 career NFL games and registered 20 tackles and one pass defensed. Price attended UTSA from 2013-2016.
Stanley spent Weeks 16-17 on the Jacksonville’s practice squad, the 2019 training camp with the Atlanta Falcons, and Weeks 7-9 on the Dolphins’ practice squad. He played wide receiver in college and converted to cornerback during his time with the Falcons. He appeared in 37 games at the University of Georgia, playing primarily on special teams, and caught three passes for 32 yards and one touchdowns.
