Will tanking work?

For the first time ever I am all in on losing as many games as possible to get into the best draft position as possible. I'm sick of seeing other teams draft Qb's that everyone gives tremendous hype to and those Qb's turning out to be as advertised.

I was always in the mind set of you've got to play to win no matter what. Drafted players are never guaranteed to succeed and a losing culture is always tough to cleanse from. I don't even know how to root against my team. Do we celebrate whenever the other team scores or gets a first down? It just doesn't feel natural. But now, I know the benefits from losing for one season. Its a sacrifice that can pay huge dividends or even the ultimate dividend as a result.

Losing the rest of these games gives the owner an automatic excuse to eradicate front office and coaching staff personnel. That alone is enough to give us something to look forward to. (Though I must say, he probably doesn't need an excuse to fire the person who drafted Taven Bryan over Lamar Jackson.) But of course the biggest reason is getting that highly coveted, often elusive franchise quarterback.

So the reason I'm asking if tanking will work this time is because we're not the only one in contention for the top pick. There are about 8 or 9 other teams with one win and the Jets don't look like they can beat any other team on their schedule. I guess we could offer a trade to move up. We do have two firsts and two seconds which I would trade to get the first overall any day. But what if they don't want to trade with us and we miss out on Lawrence or Fields, both considered franchise QB prospects, one of which is considered can't miss? I don't want any of the other guys. They've got too many question marks. We've been down that dark road before. Should we trade for Darnold? I don't think the Jets will pass up Trevor Lawrence. People say that Darnold is legit. I remember him saying he's seeing ghosts so I'd rather not. I don't think I want any retread QB here at all anyway. Are there any under the radar prospects that you guys think can emerge aside from Trask or Trey Lance? BCC is where I first saw the Mahomes hype come from when he was at Texas Tech. Maybe ya'll can find someone similar to hope for.

I just wanted to raise this question. I am apathetic on this season here on out. I don't think I'll watch because I can't root against my team, but I will hope they lose. I'll probably start watching the other pitiful teams hoping they win for our draft position or just take my ass fishing.
