Folks, we are at a crossroads here at the Bet Your Mortgage column. While overall we’re in the green, we have an even 2-2 record on the Bet Your Mortgage pick. I have more than money at stake this week. I have...
Pride.
Stay the course. Trust the process. Get better everyday.
How does Week 5 look and what are the best games to throw some money at? Let’s check it out!
Note: I used Bovada odds on Thursday afternoon.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4.0) at Chicago Bears
I think Tom Brady is just getting warmed up. He’s making more mistakes this season, but he’s capable of blowing the doors off your defense, as evidenced by his five-touchdown performance against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. He won’t do that again this week, but Tampa Bay’s defense is going to make mince meat of Nick Foles — the Buccaneers rank in the top-10 of yards allowed per play, red zone play, and third down stops.
Bet on the Buccaneers to win comfortably tonight.
Pittsburgh Steelers (-7.0) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Steelers had an early bye week and an extra week to prepare for an Eagles team that is trying to walk the tight rope of declining quarterback play and dwindling skill players on offense.
Bet on the Steelers to win by more than a touchdown.
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants (over 54.0)
That -9.5 line is enticing, but the Cowboys defense is bad and I don’t want to bet on a double-digit win by a team that can (and does) let opposing teams score at will. Let that work in your favor and expect a lot of points.
Bet on the Cowboys and Giants to finish in a barn burner.
Houston Texans (-6.0) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
We are about to get boat raced by an angry Texans team led by the best quarterback in the division now free of Bill O’Brien. My God.
Bet your mortgage on the Texans to win by at least a touchdown.
Overall: 10-6-0 (62.5%)
Bet Your Mortgage: 2-2-0 (50.0%)
