The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting quarterback Gardner Minshew on Sunday as they return from their bye week against the Houston Texans. There has been a little bit of question on whether veteran Mike Glennon or rookie Jake Luton will start, but to be perfectly honest it’s a clear and easy choice.
Jake Luton is the correct and easy choice to make as the starting quarterback Sunday.
Demetrius wrote about it yesterday with some quotes from head coach Doug Marrone about Luton rightfully getting the first team reps, and Marrone more or less put it exactly right.
“But I feel like I’ve seen a lot of Mike (Glennon); I haven’t seen a lot of Jake. I’m going to go with Jake taking the reps and see how he does,” Marrone said.
I also wrote about it a week ago, why Glennon was even considered a serious option as anything other than a game day sub.
Luton is an unknown, and while I personally do not think he’s going to be anything but an NFL backup, at 1-6 you should absolutely be finding out what you have on the roster. Doug Marrone likely knows his fate at this point and I’m sure he’s smart enough to know Mike Glennon isn’t going to turn around a 1-6 season.
It’s time to see what you’ve got with some of your unknowns.
