It’s believed by many around the league that current Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone is a lame duck, and is expected to be fired at the end of this current season. Despite reports by Adam Schefter that claim Marrone could be given the chance to retain his position in 2021, he should be relieved of his duties after the final horn sounds against Indianapolis.

There will be many suitors for the Jaguars HC job, but according to Albert Breer, one name to keep an eye on...is former Ohio State and Florida Head Coach and current FOX College Football Analyst Urban Meyer.

As a coach, Meyer was one of the best in college football history. Beginning at Bowling Green in 2001, Meyer went 187-32, with three national titles to his name: two at Florida, one at Ohio State. Meyer has been linked to NFL jobs before, but never made the leap.

Breer reported in his latest MMQB article that “the sense is that Jacksonville owner Shad Khan will hire a coach and build around the coach with other hires.” While Breer says that Meyer has been interested in NFL openings, the biggest question is if his health will allow him to coach again. Meyer infamously left the University of Florida after the 2009 season for health reasons, and retired from Ohio State in 2019.
