Mike Glennon will start vs. Minnesota Vikings

NFL: Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that backup quarterback Mike Glennon will start against the Minnesota Vikings this week, according to ESPN 690’s Brent Martineau.

Glennon went 20-for-35 for 235 yards and two touchdowns in his debut last week against the Cleveland Browns. That’s a respectable 6.7 yards per attempt. His play, along with young playmakers like James Robinson and Collin Johnson, kept the score line going back and forth. The lead changed hands six times today.

Interestingly, it seems that Gardner Minshew is fully healthy and has the support of the team and trainers to go back to being the starter, according to ESPN’s Mike DiRocco. The team may have a different starting quarterback each week now depending on how things go and how the coaching staff feels about who gives them the better chance to win any given week.

All in all, Glennon looked much better than expected on Sunday and I think he gives the team the best chance to win. That’s the only criteria by which Doug Marrone and this coaching staff will make their decision. Who gives the team the best chance to win? Regardless of who plays under center, I think this team has one more win in them at best and I don’t think the New York Jets have a win in them. We should probably be getting cozy at the No. 2 overall draft spot.
