According to online betting agency, BetOnline, Jaguars quarterback Garnder Minshew II has 100/1 odds to win the MVP during the 2020 regular season.
Minshew II started as a rookie for much of last season after veteran quarterback Nick Foles injured his left clavicle only 11 plays into week one of the 2019 regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs. In 12 games started, Minshew II threw for 3,271 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions while posting a 6-6 record at quarterback.
Notable players among those with the same odds according to BetOnline are: New York Giants running back Saquan Barkley, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is listed with the best odds at 6/1 with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson coming in at 13/2. Jackson won the 2019 MVP in a unanimous decision, the first player since Tom Brady in 2010 to do so.
Minshew II demonstrated imminence talent, especially in clutch-time last season after leading the Jaguars to three fourth-quarter comebacks, and three game-winning touchdowns. While it is not yet known whether or not the formerly rookie quarterback will earn the starting position next season, his odds to do so are far better than winning the MVP.
It should be noted, however that Jackson entered the 2019 season with the same 100/1 odds on winning MVP. There’s always a chance, however slim for Minshew II to shock the world as he has been able to do time and time again during the 2019 season after being selected as a sixth round pick.
