There are mock drafts and then there are MOCK DRAFTS — and NFL Network’s Peter Schrager just released the latter.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a prime position at the No. 9 overall pick. They can see if an elite defender like Isaiah Simmons falls to them, grab a cornerstone offensive tackle, beef up their defensive line...
Or they can trade down and let chaos reign.
That’s exactly what Schrager thinks will happen tonight with the team trading down with the Atlanta Falcons to get the No. 16 overall pick and draft Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Pick 16 - Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
PROJECTED TRADE WITH FALCONS. The biggest mystery of this draft is where Tua ends up. If the Jags trade back from ninth overall and collect a first-rounder for next year, I could see them just seeing the value being too great and saying, “Why not?” I know Nick Saban’s been singing Tua’s praises to teams around the league. I just don’t sense a long line of suitors at the moment.
What do the Jaguars get for trading down? Next year’s first round pick from the Falcons. That makes three picks in the first round next season, two picks in the first round this season, and Yannick Ngakoue left to be dealt.
Do you like the trade and the pick? Would you like to see Jacksonville go all in on Tua? Do you think the Alabama quarterback slides that far down? Let us know in the comments below!
