Jaguars vs. Colts: What’s your score prediction for Week 1?

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) and Indianapolis Colts (0-0) are battling it out in the Week 1 season opener.

Before the game begins, we wanted to ask the Big Cat Country team (and you!) a simple question:

“How will the Jaguars do today?”

Alfie Crow (@AlfieBCC)

The weather makes it a slopfest, which hurts the Colts already banged up offensive line and James Robinson shows why he’s RB1 on the depth chart.

Philip Rivers has had a field day in recent years against the Jaguars and while he’s in a less productive offense, I just don’t see him letting up. Jacksonville’s defense has gotten worse over the offseason, but their receiving corps has improved just as much. This is going to be a fun one, even if Gardner Minshew is likely to lose.

Colts win 28-20

Not many people expect the young Jaguars to win this game. Neither do I, but I do think it will be closer than most anticipate. The Colts struggle in Jacksonville, having not won there since 2014, and I expect the Jaguars to fight hard. But at the end of the day, the Colts have the much more talented and experienced roster...and Jaguars slayer Philip Rivers now at quarterback.

This first game is really going to come down to how both teams use their(assumed) strengths. The Colts, with their top 10 offensive line unit in the NFL going against an inexperienced Jaguars defensive front, or Gardener Minshew And DJ Chark leading the Jaguars pass offense against a Colts secondary that is their presumed weakness. However, I don’t think the Jaguars defense is ready for the physicality and versatility of the Colts run game. I expect the Colts to have over 150 rushing yards between rookie Jonathan Taylor and Marlon Mack.

This game is incredibly tough to predict. The Jaguars are entering a season with much of the team as an unknown. With a new offensive coordinator and several new defenders, time will tell what kind of team the Jaguars are. Ultimately, this game comes down to experience, giving the upper hand to the Colts, while the Jaguars put you a valiant fight.

Colts win 24-17
