The Jacksonville Jaguars have requested permission to interview Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith for their vacant head coaching position, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
All six teams with HC openings - Chargers, Jets, Jaguars, Lions, Falcons, Texans - have either requested permission to interview Titans’ OC Arthur Smith or plan to ask permission, per sources.

Many expected Smith to be one of the hotter names on the head coaching market this offseason, in large part because of the consistency of the Titans offense and the resurrection of the career of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Titans took a flyer on Tannehill last season and it has paid dividends, to back-to-back playoff berths and their first division title in over a decade.
Smith has been with the Titans since 2011, working his way through the ranks on the offensive side of the ball after originally being hired as a defensive quality control coach under Mike Munchak. He was retained by current head coach Mike Vrabel and promoted to offensive coordinator last season, which saw running back Derrick Henry post insane rushing numbers the past two seasons.
