Standout rookie cornerback CJ Henderson had offseason surgery on his labrum, according to Head Coach Urban Meyer at his press conference today.
Meyer also said that Henderson is recovering well, and rehabbing at the team’s facility.
Henderson was picked ninth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft and played in eight games this season, intercepting one pass and adding six pass deflections, and also adding a forced fumble.
Injuries were a problem for Henderson this year. He was put on Injured Reserve on Nov. 19 with a groin injury, and while he played he suffered from multiple injuries. The shoulder injury came from Week Four against Cincinnati when he didn’t return to the game after injuring his shoulder.
The Jaguars secondary enters the 2021 season as one of the worst in the NFL. With Sidney Jones IV entering free agency and the team not expected to retain DJ Hayden, Henderson will surely be a cornerstone of a hopefully revamped secondary.
