The endorsement deals for presumptive first-overall pick and future Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence have begun to stack after it was announced today Lawrence would be signing an endorsement deal with Gatorade, becoming the first quarterback with a national deal since Cam Newton.

“We want to work with athletes who are leaders among their peers, committed to performance and authentic users of our products,” Jeff Kearney, Gatorade Global Head of Sports Marketing said in a statement. “Trevor is all of those things, and with his help we hope to inspire and fuel the next generation of athletes.”

Lawrence will join several other recently added young Gatorade athletes, including Fernando Tatis Jr., Zion Williamson, Jayson Tatum, Matthew Wolff, Mallory Pugh and Sydney McLaughlin.

“Signing with Gatorade was an easy choice,” said Lawrence in a statement. “I have deep ties to the brand, and I’ve used most of the products throughout my entire athletic journey. It’s important to me to surround myself with the best, and I believe that Gatorade is just that when it comes to sports science, hydration and elevating my performance.”

Lawrence has already signed a deal to become an Adidas athlete, a roster that includes star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rogers. In January, Lawrence signed a deal with Excel Sports Management, a US-based sports marketing and talent representation agency.

The 2021 NFL Draft is slated to begin on April 29 and will extend through May 1st.

While the Jaguars have yet to make the pick official, general manager Trent Baalke stated the team has done extensive research, and with Lawrence, the “stars align.”

“[With] all the research we’ve done, you’re always looking for the stars to align when you’re looking at prospects, whether that be from a physical, mental, character aspect, whatever the case may be,” said Baalke earlier this week. “With his situation, like many others in this draft, the stars all align and that’s what you’re looking for.”
