The Jaguars traded up in the fourth round to the 121st pick, and selected Jordan Smith, EDGE from UAB. Smith is a redshirt junior from Georgia who was first team all Conference USA in 2020. In two years at UAB Smith had 14.5 sacks and was a foundational piece for a revamped UAB football team. Smith has great size and athleticism for the position, and flashed potential to be great with his hands at the next level, but still has some inconsistencies there. You can’t teach 6’7 and 255 pounds, however, and that’s what Smith brings to the Jaguars.

Despite having Josh Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson on the roster, the Jaguars were still in need of some pass rush, finishing near the bottom of the NFL in sacks. With Joe Cullen stepping in as defensive coordinator from Baltimore, multiple guys bringing pressure is important, and Smith can do that.

So how do you grade the pick? Vote in the poll below.
