The #Jaguars are planning to sign QB-turned-TE Tim Tebow to a 1-year deal, per me and @TomPelissero, a deal that could be official in the next week or so. Nothing done yet. But he’ll have a chance to make the team to reunite with his mentor and college head coach Urban Meyer.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) May 10, 2021

The move comes just a few weeks after it was reported that the former Florida Gators and NFL quarterback worked out for the team, directed by its tight ends coach Tyler Bowen.
Tebow, 33, spent four years with Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer during his time at Florida, winning two National Titles (2006 and 2008), along with a Heisman Trophy (2007). The former quarterback was selected in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos and would spend three years with the franchise.
He would go on to play one season with the New York Jets before bouncing around to the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles during the preseason. He has not played football in five years, spending his time playing baseball in the
“Tim and I’ve talked about, when he was a quarterback in the NFL that was a big topic,” Meyer said last month when asked about Tebow coming back into the NFL. “I was so busy I didn’t give him the time. ‘What do you think? What do you think?’ and I didn’t know, I was too busy to even think it through. I know playing a position in the National Football League without — that’s a long shot, this is years ago.”
This time, Tebow and Meyer talked about his potential return. Meyer did not stay for the entire workout, however, remaining focused on the NFL Draft and looking towards revisiting the potential move later. It appears that time is now.
Meyer reiterated during his press conference that his job is to win games, however, that may come about, not to simply give favors to past players.
