Both players are entering their second year in the NFL. Thomas was the Jaguars’ fifth-round pick out of Auburn in the 2020 NFL Draft, while Barcoo was signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State last season, and ended up making the roster.
Barcoo played in three games in 2020, including a start against the Cleveland Browns. He recorded 10 total tackles, including seven solo tackles, and one pass defended. According to Pro Football Reference, Barcoo played a total of 152 defensive snaps.
Thomas appeared in 10 games as a rookie, including starts against the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. He recorded 16 total tackles, two passes defended and an interception, and also took a blocked punt for a touchdown, before eventually ending the season on injured reserve. Overall, he played 161 defensive snaps and 191 special teams snaps in 2020.
Thomas was originally placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list in early August. With Thomas now officially activated, the team does not have any players currently on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
