Urban Meyer won’t be going anywhere after the Jaguars head coach shot down rumors of a potential flip to the USC Trojans during his press conference earlier this morning.
“There’s no chance,” said Meyer. “I’m here and committed to try to build an organization.”

Meyer was linked to the job shortly following the program’s firing of Clay Helton on Sept. 13. Hilton became the USC head coach in 2015 after spending the previous few seasons in various roles, including interim head coach in 2013 and part of 2015 prior to earning the permanent role during the 2015 season.
He finished with a 46-24 record, including last week’s 42-28 loss to Stanford.
Meyer, 57, was hired by the Jaguars in January of this year, shortly after the team let go of both former head coach Doug Marrone, completing a clean sweep of the organization.
Over the course of his coaching career, Meyer has held head coaching positions in the collegiate ranks with Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio State. He’s since embarked on his journey to the professional level. He would leave both Florida and OSU in surprising fashions for various reasons, including health reasons in 2018 with the Buckeyes.
In his first week coaching the team, Meyer and the Jaguars would fall to the Houston Texans, 37-21, a game that Jacksonville simply looked out-matched for plenty of the contest.
Even still, Meyer has no drive to leave the Jacksonville program, committed to building the organization essentially from the ground up.
Since becoming the Jaguars head coach this season, Meyer has already instituted plenty of changes to create a better football team, including an entire sports performance department, bringing in state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment, including cryo chambers and in-house sports medicine equipment and personnel.
The Jaguars will take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday in the team’s home opener, another opportunity for Meyer to showcase his team.
