LIVE: Jags Coaching Search

As time has worn on, the picture of the Jaguars coaching search has become a little muddled unless you follow a lot of sources closely. So I wanted to post this brief summary (SAT. 1/22) for us to have a comments section going forward to post any news or updates.

Top Candidates

As of Saturday 1/22, there are 3 names that have emerged in most reporting as the likely finalists:

Byron Leftwich

  • Offensive Coordinator (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
  • former Jaguars QB (2003-2006)
  • Age: 42
  • Defensive Coordinator (Indianapolis Colts)
  • former Cowboys LB coach (2011-2017)
  • Age: 51
  • Offensive Coordinator (Green Bay Packers)
  • former Jaguars QB Coach (2015-16) and OC (2016-18)
  • Age: 42
Matt Eberflus has had a 2nd interview. Leftwich and Hackett both remain in the Playoffs for now, but are rumored to likely be interviewed again by JAX.

Others Previously Reported*

Darrell Bevell
Jim Caldwell
Doug Pederson
Kellen Moore
Bill O’Brien
Todd Bowles
Dan Quinn

*The only candidates in this list still possibly in play appear to be Caldwell and Pederson. The rest either did not interview, or reportedly are not in contention as finalists.

Other Teams Hiring Head Coaches (7)

  • Chicago Bears
  • Denver Broncos
  • Houston Texans
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Miami Dolphins
  • Minnesota Vikings
