Welcome to Week 8!
The Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 29 at Acrisure Stadium a.k.a. Heinz Field. The Jags are 2-point favorites, according to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, and the total is set at 41.5 points.
This week’s biggest storyline is the status of the Jaguars in the AFC playoff picture. Jacksonville is 5-2 on the season, good for the second-best record in the AFC (behind Kansas City) and a two-game lead in the AFC South.
Two outcomes from the Jaguars’ current four-game win streak were critical victories over a divisional opponent in the Colts and a conference contender in the Bills.
This week, the Jacksonville will travel to Pittsburgh. The Bumble Bees are 4-2 (tied for the best record in a crowded AFC North), so a win over another strong team within the conference would have the J-Villians sitting pretty at 6-2 heading into its Week 9 bye.
This opportunity for the Jaguars to catapult themselves into ‘we need to talk about this team as a true contender’ status comes against a franchise with a rich head-to-head history. (Look for more on that in our ‘Jaguars vs Steelers: This week in team history’ piece later this week.)
Jacksonville leads the all-time series, 14-13, including a memorable Divisional Round matchup in the 2017-18 postseason -- but the bad guys are 3-2 over the past decade in general. Can the Jaguars win its first game at Heinz Field since that Leonard Fournette three-touchdown masterpiece and bring good vibes home for the bye week?
