The Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers have faced off against each other 27 times during the regular season and playoffs. Jacksonville currently leads the series 14-13. When the Jaguars first became a team, they were a part of the AFC Central Division along with the Steelers. Memorable moments:
The Jaguars winning their first Monday Night Football game
Week 4 at Alltel Stadium on September 22, 1997
Final score: Jaguars 30 - Steelers 21
Mark Brunell made his first appearance after a knee injury and threw for 306 yards. Natrone Means, Jimmy Smith, and Chris Hudson scored touchdowns. Fred Taylor during Week 12 in 2000
Third-year veteran Fred Taylor had a career game that broke both Jaguars and Steelers records. Taylor recorded 234 rushing yards and four touchdowns with 30 carries. This was the most yards registered by an opponent in Three Rivers Stadium, and he became the leading rusher in Jaguars franchise history. This took place during a nine-game stretch in which Taylor rushed for at least 100 yards.
“They showed they could not stop the stretch zone, whether we were keeping it front door or cutting it back. They lost their discipline. We had a couple of screen plays in there that ended up, with the blocking, being nice touchdowns. I didn’t know it was going to be a special day. The game just turned into one of those nights.” - Fred Taylor
