Welcome to Week 16!
The 8-6 Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the 7-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 24 at Raymond James Stadium. The Jags are 1-point favorites, according to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, and the total is set at 43.5 points.
This week’s biggest storyline is, once again, the health of quarterback Trevor Lawrence. 16 took quite a few tumbles in Sunday night’s loss to the Ravens, and during the head coach’s post-game press conference, Doug Pederson revealed that Lawrence had been placed in concussion protocol.
Pederson didn’t provide much of an update the next day: “I’m not at liberty to speculate with head injuries, so I can’t say one way or the other.”
If Lawrence can’t play on Sunday, it’ll be the first missed game of his NFL career. Backup C.J. Beathard (2-10 record as a starter, 80.8 career passer rating) would start in his place to try to lead the Jaguars to a much-needed victory on the west side of the state.
