Indianapolis Colts (via Stampede Blue)

Report: Colts place safety Julian Blackmon on IR, sign safety Henry Black off Steelers’ practice squad

The Colts lose a key defensive piece for the final two games of the 2023 regular season.

“Blackmon exited Indianapolis’ Week 16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a shoulder injury, and now the third-year safety is set to miss the rest of the 2023 regular season after being placed on injured reserve.”

Houston Texans (via Battle Red Blog)

Houston Texans open as favorites at home against Titans in Week 17

Starting to think this whole “favorite” thing isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

“I never expected the opening odds to have a monkey’s paw type effect on the Houston Texans. Each time they’ve been the favorite in this opening odds segment, they’ve gotten pantsed by far worse teams.

They were favorites against the Carolina Panthers, the New York Jets, and now the Cleveland Browns and each time they’ve come out flat or been outright annihilated over the course of the game; both in terms of poor play and significant injuries.”

Tennessee Titans (via Music City Miracles)

Titans-Texans Weds Injury Report: Will Levis practices

The Tennessee Titans appear primed to get Will Levis back this Sunday

“The Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans released injury reports on Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s AFC South showdown. Most notably for the Titans, starting quarterback Will Levis returned to practice as a full participant. It appears that Levis will play versus the Texans.”

Dolphins Jason Sanders wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

There was no player more deserving for Player of the Week than Miami Dolphins Kicker Jason Sanders. #FinsUP

“Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 5-Field-Goal Performance vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Miami’s kicker connected from 57, 52, 54, 35, and 29 yards in Miami’s epic 22-20 win over the Cowboys at Hard Rock Stadium.”

New England Patriots (via Pats Pulpit)

Patriots reportedly claim cornerback Marco Wilson off waivers from Cardinals

Starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson has been placed on injured reserve.

“Wilson, 24, entered the NFL in the fourth round of the 2021 draft at No. 136 overall. The Florida Gators product went on to start 37 of his 43 games while a member of the Cardinals. Over that span, he recorded 158 tackles to go with three forced fumbles and three interceptions.”

Buffalo Bills (via Buffalo Rumblings)

Buffalo Bills activate cornerback Kaiir Elam from injured reserve

The move brings Buffalo back to 53 players on their active roster

“The Buffalo Bills made a roster move on Wednesday, announcing that second-year cornerback Kaiir Elam has been activated from injured reserve. Given that they placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on IR last week, the Bills did not need to make a corresponding move to add Elam back to the 53-man roster.”

New York Jets (via Gang Green Nation)

Zach Wilson ruled out for Thursday Night Football against Cleveland Browns

Trevor Siemian is likely to make his second start of the season.

“Zach Wilson will not return to the lineup for the New York Jets when they face the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football in Week 17. Head coach Robert Saleh revealed the third year quarterback has not cleared the concussion protocol.”

Kansas City Chiefs (via Arrowhead Pride)

The reality is the Chiefs’ offense needs more than a wide receiver to be fixed

The performance on Christmas revealed all the problems with the 2023 offense in a single game.

“It’s hard to start in any area of this offense because everything is broken. The passing game, the running game and even just simply lining up and correctly run plays or motion is something this offense can no longer achieve.”

Denver Broncos (via Mile High Report)

Report: Texans claim veteran safety Kareem Jackson off waivers

The now former Denver Broncos safety who was released yesterday has been claimed by the Houston Texans according to reports.

“Jackson has been with the team since 2019 and re-signed with them this past offseason on a one-year deal. He ended up starting and playing a bigger role with the team after an injury to Caden Sterns but to four-game suspensions for unnecessary roughness sidelined him for the majority of the Broncos season.”

Los Angeles Chargers (via Bolts from the Blue)

Broncos benching Russell Wilson, will start Jarrett Stidham vs. Chargers

The Broncos will start backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham and keep Russell Wilson on the bench against the Chargers in Week 17.

“The move comes on the heels of potential future financial implications for the Broncos should Wilson wind up severely injured during the team’s final two games. As it stands, Wilson is fully guaranteed $39 million for the 2024 season. However, if he is unable to pass a physical in March of 2024, he’d be guaranteed an additional $37 million. With the Broncos unsure if Wilson is still their quarterback of the future, the team is choosing to keep him out of harm’s way while simultaneously seeing what they have in the younger Stidham.”

Las Vegas Raiders (via Silver and Black Pride)

Raiders-Colts Week 17 playoff implications

Both teams fighting for playoff lives

“The Raiders must beat the Colts, who are a 3.5-point favorite at our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook and then the Denver Broncos (-3.5) at home in Week 18 and then hope for help to make the postseason at 9-8. They can still win the AFC West title. Kansas City can win the division with a home win over Cincinnati or a Raiders loss or tie and a Denver loss or tie in to the Chargers at home in Week 17.”

Cincinnati Bengals (via Cincy Jungle)

Joe Burrow’s parents help deliver 5,000 meals to schools

The meals were delivered in a van donated by Joe Burrow’s non-profit.

“The Joe Burrow Foundation has paired with the Athens City School District La Soupe, based in Cincinnati, to deliver meals weekly to the Athens City School District for a year. That will provide 60,000 meals.”

Baltimore Ravens (via Baltimore Beatdown)

Kyle Hamilton named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

The first of many honors for the Ravens’ standout safety

“Hamilton made a game-changing defensive impact against the 49ers with two interceptions in the first half along with five total tackles and three passes defended. He did all this before exiting later in the game with an aggravated knee injury, so his production ultimately could have been even better, too.”

Pittsburgh Steelers (via Behind the Steel Curtain)

Steelers lose practice squad S to Colts, release LB

The Steelers now have two open spots on their practice squad.

“The Steelers opened up spots on their practice squad today, with the Indianapolis Colts announcing that they have poached safety Henry Black from the Steelers and added him to their 53-man roster.”

Cleveland Browns (via Dawgs by Nature)

Browns add insurance at kicker

Cleveland signs placekicker Riley Patterson to the practice squad as Dustin Hopkins is dealing with a hamstring injury.

“Patterson played with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022, converting 85.7 percent of his field goals with a long of 53 yards, and missed just one extra point in 37 attempts. He kicked in both of Jacksonville’s playoff games, where he was a perfect three-of-three on field goals and four-of-four on extra points, so that’s a nice bonus.”
