As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare to play the Carolina Panthers in Week 17, we sat down with Walker Clement of Cat Scratch Reader to learn more about the opposing side.

Question 1: Talk to me about Bryce Young. Obviously, he’s had a disappointing rookie season, but is there still hope in Charlotte that the No. 1 overall pick has a bright future?

There is growing hope based off of last week’s showing against the Green Bay Packers. This season has been awful and it is difficult to point at anything Young has done to separate himself from the dismal performances of his coaches and teammates.

It’s hard to say anything definitive about Young right now besides that we have a lot left we need to see and he has, at most, one more season to show it given the patience owner David Tepper has shown to date.

Q2: What are your thoughts on Frank Reich’s swift firing and Chris Tabor’s job as interim head coach?

Reich’s firing was necessary. I don’t know what went wrong in the alchemy of building his staff, but the whole thing was a disaster from the start.

Tabor has done a fine job leading the team without threatening to gain support from fans for the full time job. That’s exactly what he was asked to do.

Q3: Has Ejiro Evero done well enough to be in consideration for head coach next season? Are there any outside names that Panthers fans are monitoring?

I think so, for Evero. He has been consistently great. I also thought Steve Wilks should have gotten the job last season.

As for outside names, our fans are more worried about qualified names being warned off of joining a garbage fire when there are other jobs open than they are about getting the perfect candidates.

Q4: Can you name one player who’s been better than expected and one player who’s been worse than expected this season?

Q5: The Jaguars are 6-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Which side of the spread do you like, and do any game/player props fancy your interest?

Bet the under on everything Panthers that isn’t kicking points or Bryce Young rushing yards and always, always take their opponent to win and cover the spread. Better luck in 2025.

Thanks to Walker for taking the time to answer our questions!
